Narrative:
This project reflects my vision of an art gallery. As a community gallery, rather than being a highly open and welcoming building, I visioned a gallery that is rather enclosed and unwelcoming, where only those who seeks art, the most will able to enter. The objective is to filer those to has less understanding of art, and only attracts those who are truly passionate about art. The building consists of two “shells” that protects the gallery spaces, metaphorically, protects the art world.
The two shells are programed to be circulation core (right of the short section), and the artist studio (left of the short section). The artist studio is also divided so that each artist is working in an isolated environment, where in section, it is a bee hive structure, with individual cells for the artists.
In addition, the relationship of the artist and the gallery space, and the visitors are also imagined to be more separated, where the floor height of the gallery and the artist studio misaligning each other, the gallery visitors cannot see the artists, but there are small windows where the artists are able to observe what is happening inside the gallery.
